The cup of the eye is filled to the brim,
My tears - they yearn for freedom,

The OECD recently released its latest broadband statistics, showing that South Africa’s peak DSL speed of 10Mbps is slower than all OECD countries, bar one.
The OECD broadband statistics for the “fastest advertised connection offered by surveyed DSL operators for September 2011” ranks Estonia, Luxembourg and Po land as the top countries – all with a speed of 105Mbps.
The average peak DSL speed among OECD nations is 36Mbps, well above Telkom’s highest speed ADSL service of 10Mbps.
There was in fact only one country which had a peak DSL speed lower than South Africa – Mexico at 5Mbps.
The following graph shows the fastest advertised DSL connection offered by operators in OECD countries for September 2011.
Good news for South African broadband users is that Telkom is currently busy with a network upgrade which will see far higher DSL speeds.
Telkom said recently that it will increase the speed of its entry level ADSL service to 2Mbps by 2015, and at the same time boost its highest ADSL speed to 40Mbps.

We live in the age of science.science has entered every field of our life. It has added many comforts to our life.The impossibilities of the past have been made possible.New miracles are happening everyday.It has given man a new sense of confidence and power.man has conquered the forces of nature.He is not afraid of wild animals tempeste and floods.
It has helped man to explore the hidden treasures of the earth.man has now learnt to land on the moon. He is in search of new worlds. A great writer emerson says science surpasses the old miracles of mythology.
science has broughta a revolution in the matters of transportation and communication.it has shortened the distance. In the past, travelling was a difficult and dangerous matter. It took weeks and months to reach from one place to another.people bade fareweel to their relatives and friends with a heavy heart while they set out on a journey.
Now those days have gone. We can now travel from one part of the world to the other in a few hours. There are rocket planes that travel at the speed pf seven or eight hundred miles per hour. They travel faster then sound,telephone,wireless,radio and television and computer are wonderful inventions of science. They connect us with the world within the twinkling of an eye.the radio and T.V are most powerful means of information and education for us. They make a record of everythink which happens in the world.T.V
,with its plays,entertaining features and educational programmes enlightens and delights us its influence on man, woman and children stand undefeated messages are flashed.Direct
conversation can be carried on.internet has brought the countries close togather.tha world has shrunk in size. Science has established and strengthened the bonds of friendsship and love between the people of different countries.it is no doubt a great service of science.
Electicity is perhaps most wounderful invission of the science. It used as a sourse of light heat and power. With the help of power we can now change the rivers,level the mountain and cultivate our barran lands. Without it the whole program of would come to stand still.Had it not been invented. the entire world would have plunged into darkness.It move trains and trams. It heats our roon in winter and cools then in summer. It cools out our foods and iron our clothes.
It has also done wounder in the word of medicine.Treatment by "X-ray" and "readiation" is one of the greatest wounders of science. "Difficult opreations" have become a routine of matter. "VAccination" had small "pox" a thing of the past. Many other diseases like "cholera" "plague" and "T.B." have fully controled. "Quinine" has finished "Malaria". It also has made our social life easy and comfortable. It has give us many ways of "recreation" The cinema , radio, and telivision, has made our life chearful and comfortable.
science has made us open minded and reational.we analyse everything before we trust it. we do not have any faith in ghosts and spirits. now a days science has mabde us practical minded.
In the past men was superstitious, they were afraid of number 13.
In the past when science was not developed people always feel the baseless fear but nowadays with the help of science people has become open minded and they try to find the reason behind all incidents.

Atom For Peace
Atom is a greek work which means a thing that cannot be cut or broken. It is the smallest particle of matter. It is no longer undivided and unbroken. Scientists have found further smaller particles which are called electrons,protons and neutrons. Atoms can release great power and energy. It was Albert Einsten who began to work on the theory of producing energy from atom in 1905. He explained many things. First, he showed that matter and energy are different things. In other words, matter can be converted into energy and vice versa. Second, a small amount of matter produces a great amount of energy. The discovery of atomic energy is one of the wonders of the modern science.
Atomic energy cuts both ways
It can be utilized for destructive as well as peaceful purposes. Man prepared atomic bombs, hydrogen and cobalt bombs which could destroy cities and towns in the twinkling of an eye.
It was in 1945, that a single atom bomb destroyed Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It killed thousands of men and woman and destroyed vast areas of land. Now all the big powers have many more atomic and dangerous hydrogen bombs. They can raze the world to ground if they are carelessly used.
Atomic energy can also be used for the welfare of mankind.
Scientists in the U.S.A, England, France, Canada and Germany are working on peaceful use of energy. An international conference on the peaceful uses of atomic energy was held at Geneva to think over the use of nuclear energy. The U.S.A have already started to use this energy to equip submarines and space rockets. The Russians have also harnessed it for space travel. At present, electricty is pruduced from atomic energy in advanced countries like the U.S.A., Russia and Britain. Scientists are also trying to find ways of using atomic power as fule in ships, aeroplanes, motor cars etc. At present atomic reactors for boiling water exist in different countrices.
Nuclear energy has also brought a revolution in the field of industry. Petrol and coal are well known sources of energy and power. The supply of these two sources of power is energy. Electronic machines and computers are being used in our industry. They are used in the plastic, glass paper, textile, rubber and cement industry. Atomic energy is also of great help in agriculture. The barren land can be tilled into smiling fields with the help of computerized tractors and machines. Crops can be ripened within a very short time. The yield of crops per acre can also be multiplied in this way, scientists are trying to solve the food problem. We can say that atomic energy can be used with full advantage for the welfare of makind.
